About the role
We are looking for a Service Coordinator to join our friendly, hospital based team within the rapid response element of the Bristol First Call service. You will have a pivotal role in promoting the service and will be working directly with health and social care professionals to ensure a high standard of service delivery for service users. The role is to provide the coordination and supervision of the rapid response element of the service from the hospital. The service supports people living in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire and travel throughout the region will be required.

Bristol First Call provides practical and emotional support to people over the phone and/or in their own home. The service provides a range of support from one off telephone calls for advice and guidance, visits at home for those who need them and also a rapid response service to support with discharges from hospital, providing transport and resettlement at home.

You will be a motivated, committed and enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with people in a sensitive yet professional manner. You will have experience of working with vulnerable people and be able to use your initiative to work independently.

The work hours for this post will be from 4pm until 12am, which will operate on a shared basis with one other part-time coordinator in order to cover a seven day period (service runs 365 days a year). The shifts are based on a fortnightly rota, as part of this you will need to work every other weekend.

We are a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives.

About the team
Our services help to prevent people from reaching crisis point; reducing admissions to hospitals and the need for residential and nursing care.

We are committed to delivering a person-centred service and enabling service users to achieve their personal outcomes. These may include enhanced quality of life, increased confidence and independence, and an improved sense of choice and control.

We also focus on improving personal dignity, feelings of safety and improved recovery after trauma or illness through services such as Support at Home and Transport Support.

About the person
The successful candidate will:

  • Be educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Have experience working with vulnerable people & have knowledge of POVA (Protection of Vulnerable adults) and Child Protection legislation.
  • Be IT literate. Experience of using email, word processing & spreadsheet packages.

Closing date for applications is 23:59 on the 5th of October 2017.
