Are you a Community Health expert looking to make a change in one of the country's biggest charities?

We're recruiting for a Head of Community Health Programmes to develop innovative community health programmes that engage people and communities affected by heart and circulatory disease; this includes our award winning Nation of LifeSavers CPR Programme and our ground-breaking charity partnerships.

We want to improve health outcomes and help ensure that the BHF strengthens its position as the nation's heart charity.

About the role

You'll lead the development of an exciting new Community Mobilisation programme which aims to prevent 150,000 heart attacks and strokes over the next ten years. You'll play a leading role in our work with community leaders and networks to improve detection rates of the main risk factors for heart attack and stroke (atrial fibrillation, high blood pressure and high cholesterol) to help turn research and insights into real-world impact for patients and the public.

Working with senior managers and leaders you'll play a formative role in creating, shaping and driving the direction and activity of our Healthcare Innovation directorate, and will work closely with colleagues across the BHF, in particular marketing and communications, to help us reach more people, in new ways, with greater impact.

About you

You'll have a strong understanding of the NHS and the UK health care policy landscape and will, ideally, have a postgraduate qualification in a related field, e.g. marketing, healthcare management.

With previous leadership experience you'll have proven experience as a programme lead or similar role in a large, complex organisation. You'll also have experience of leading community or public health related programmes and will be able to develop strong working relationships with the wider team, having previously led and managed teams in a previous role.

To be successful in this role you'll have the following experience:
* Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills, able to work closely with stakeholders at very senior levels
* Strong strategic analytical skills, able to frame problems and solutions in a logical fashion
* Ability to demonstrate a high degree of empathy and compassion for patient issues
* Ability to embrace and deal with ambiguity and complexity and to be open to creativity in leading and bringing about effective change
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team with a wide range of professional backgrounds

You'll live and breathe our values - brave, compassionate, informed and driven - working with teams throughout the organisation, as well as external partners, ensuring that projects and programmes are aligned to our strategy to 2030.
