Are you a legal and governance expert looking to put their mark on the work of one of the country's biggest charities?

Have you previously acted as a senior legal adviser, having been responsible for monitoring and ensuring legal compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements?

If so you could be our new Head of Legal and Governance.

About the role

As our most senior lawyer in the organisation you'll be responsible for the management of a team of lawyers. You'll oversee governance of the BHF and will ensure the organisation receives appropriate commercial legal advice and support for senior management and the Board of Trustees.

Working closely with the BHF's Company Secretary you'll ensure high standards of governance within the BHF. You'll also be responsible for monitoring and ensuring legal compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.

About you

A qualified lawyer (England and Wales) you'll have good academics and sound legal training in a well-regarded legal practice. You'll have an in depth knowledge of company, commercial, charity law (desirable), employment (desirable) as well as trustees' duties and good governance practices.

To be successful in this role you'll have experience of the following:
* Experience in a wide range of areas of law affecting the charity sector
* Experience of complex stakeholder management, in particular working with and influencing senior executives, board members and external stakeholders
* Previous experience dealing with and influencing regulatory bodies
* Proven ability to deal with a diverse workload under pressure to short deadlines
* Strong leadership and influencing skills and a high degree of integrity, confidence, confidentiality, discretion and personal credibility

We're looking for someone to have an interest in working in-house in a large charity, who takes a service orientated approach. You'll be an excellent communicator in all medias.

You'll be able to pick up and run with work with limited information but to know what to do next and will welcome job stretch; not afraid of taking on work outside of own academic ability or experience. You'll deliver solutions that make a difference wherever possible in a timely manner and will be a thoughtful planner who is rarely caught out.
