In the 1960s, 7 in 10 people died of their heart attack. Today, thanks to medical breakthroughs, 7 in 10 survive. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has been involved in so many critical breakthroughs - and we are still leading the way.

We have the support of over 22,000 volunteers across the organisation. The volunteering team aim to deliver consistency of approach to volunteering, wherever and however people choose to give their time to us, to ensure they have an experience that is valuable to both the volunteer and the BHF.

About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join a newly created Volunteer Management Team which will support our Retail Directorate across the BHF.

As our Retail Volunteering Manager you'll work alongside our Regional and Area Managers in East Midlands, East Anglia and Essex to deliver the BHF's local and national volunteering strategy and will support our retail team to recruit, train and retain unpaid manpower.

This role encompasses collaboration across the BHF, local communities, and external organisations to grow volunteer participation in our estate of circa 730 shops.

Whilst retail focused you'll work alongside the volunteering management team and volunteering colleagues from across the BHF to ensure a consistent volunteer journey.

About you

The successful candidate will be both an expert in volunteer management, having worked either in a field based role or within a multi-site organisation previously, as well as experienced in working with and influencing senior stakeholders to deliver credible and innovative solutions that meet KPI's.

With experience of training or coaching groups and individuals, you'll have excellent communication skills, ability to speak with authority and knowledge and passion about all volunteering related topics. You'll have strong analytical skills able to probe, investigate and challenge when needed matched by excellent organisational skills, ability to work independently, take the initiative and prioritise personal workload.

The role can be office or home-based, focusing on East Midlands, East Anglia and Essex, and will involve extensive travel across the UK with some overnight stays.
