The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the nation's heart charity with a mission to beat heartbreak forever through pioneering cardiovascular research. We fund thousands of scientists carrying out more than half the UK's research into heart disease and our fearless work has transformed the impact for the millions of people affected. But with 1 in 4 UK deaths still caused by heart disease, we urgently want to increase our research and we need to raise more money to do that.

So we're looking for a brilliant, experienced and ambitious events leader.

About the role

After nearly 10 years, BHF's Head of Events has moved on so we have a very rare opportunity to lead the next stage of transformational growth in one of the charity sector's biggest event portfolios and make a difference to the millions affected by heart disease.

In this exciting opportunity you will develop and implement an events strategy to transform income in our wide-ranging portfolio which includes events like the iconic London to Brighton Bike Ride.

The Events team is a vital growth driver in the BHF's new fundraising strategy which will hugely increase the scale of BHF's life-saving research. You'll lead and develop a world-class team to develop our portfolio, ensuring it is sector leading and growing significantly year on year.

Supporter experience is at the heart of everything the BHF does, so the successful candidate will also show their customer centric thinking by delivering awesome event experiences, building on what are already fantastic net promoter scores to create loyalty and engagement with the BHF's ambitions.

About you

As an impactful leader, you'll also contribute to the overall growth and effectiveness of the Fundraising Directorate.

To be successful in this role you will have an excellent understanding and knowledge of a broad range of innovative fundraising and events methods and principles and a thorough understanding of marketing techniques (especially digital marketing).

You'll have extensive experience of organising large scale mass participation physical events, preferably within a fundraising capacity, and a track record of managing and delivering significant and complex budgets, and of devising and delivering an events strategy.

With demonstrable leadership experience and line management responsibility for large and diverse teams, and excellent organisational and planning skills, you will have a "can do" attitude and be solutions focused, results orientated, and confident at negotiation.
