We will win our fight against heart and circulatory disease by continuing to fund the world’s best research. But the outcomes of this research need to be put into practice. Our Healthcare Innovation directorate takes the knowledge gained through our world class research programme, together with the best global evidence, and seeks to ensure that patients benefit from the best care within the shortest possible time – in clinical settings, in the community and at home.

The BHF is now looking to appoint an Executive Director of Healthcare Innovation who will play a key role leading the delivery of BHF’s prevention, survival and support services; driving health and care innovation; and influencing health system leaders. This is a transformational role, building on our successes and working with patients, to position the BHF as a driving force in improving the care and support of the 7 million people in the UK living with the burden of heart and circulatory disease, as well as their families and carers. 
 
Reporting to the Chief Executive (and to the Medical Director for medical and scientific matters) and with responsibility for over 100 staff and a budget in excess of £20m, the successful candidate will work collaboratively to transform the landscape of care of heart and circulatory disease patients. As a member of the Executive Group, this role is also about shaping, embedding and delivering corporate strategy across the BHF and identifying opportunities to positively influence heart health in the UK and beyond.

In order to define the change that you seek in senior influencers, institutions and systems, you will be an exceptional, ambitious and inspirational leader driven by the needs and expectations of patients, who relishes managing a high-profile medical-influencing and policy agenda; overseeing complex operations, large clinical and service delivery projects; and driving transformational change and efficiency. If you have: considerable experience within the field of health and care policy and practice, an understanding of the UK medical research landscape including cardiovascular health issues, and are outward-looking and well-networked in relevant areas, then we look forward to hearing from you.
