Many of our rangers have gone on to careers in equestrianism.

Your responsibilities will include, providing leadership and ideas for the organisation and giving strategic direction to ensure a sustainable future. Company
Windsor Horse Rangers is a volunteer led childrens educational charity. Our purpose is to educate young people in horsemanship to experience, engage with and enjoy horses.
We do this by giving them the hands-on skills to care for, handle, ride and connect with horses in a supportive, nurturing and fun environment. We have 24 horses and ponies who are loved and cared for by 180 children aged 8 -18 who spend 3-8 hours each Saturday or Sunday at our farm.
Around 10% of the children who attend have additional needs such as autism, ADHD and anxiety. We continually have over 700 children on our waiting list, which takes 3-4 years to reach the top. However the vast majority of children on our waiting list will get offered a place.
The children learn how to catch, groom and tack up the horses and how to ride. They learn to muck out, tie hay nets, sweep the yard, poo pick and every aspect of how to look after a horse. Through building relationships with horses and each other, Rangers develop as individuals, build self-confidence and resilience, learn communication and team-building skills, have fun and make new friends. Being a Horse Ranger promotes lifelong love and respect for horses and contributes to the world-wide aim of every horse being treated with respect and compassion.
The Rangers spend a lot of time outside doing physical activities such as poo-picking the fields, mucking out stables and cleaning the yard. Each child also spends an hour each weekend in our classroom, building on their horse care knowledge through focused learning.
We have had several children with 'challenging' behaviour attending Rangers over the years and have seen them change for the better as they are accepted and given responsibilities within our structure. Over the years thousands of local children have benefited from the activities we provide. We have ex-rangers who now work on or own stud farms, livery and racing yards. We also have ex-rangers who work as vets, vet nurses, equine physiotherapists, horse behaviourist and as a writer for Horse and Hound magazine. Many rangers have completed equine related degrees at university and gained a direction in life which they did not have before joining us.
