Nestled in a picturesque village setting, Hauxton Preschool offers a unique and close-knit community for children to flourish. With a small group of children and dedicated staff, we provide a warm and welcoming environment where every child feels valued and supported.

At Hauxton Preschool, we believe in the power of play, learning, and growth. Our ethos revolves around cultivating a love for learning through hands-on experiences and imaginative play. We understand that each child is unique and we tailor our approach to meet their individual needs, fostering their natural curiosity and creativity.

As the Chair of Hauxton Preschool in Cambridge, you will play a vital role in leading and supporting our dedicated team of educators and staff. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Leadership and Governance: Provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the preschool operates effectively and in accordance with its mission and values. Collaborate with the governing body, parents, and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a safe and nurturing environment for our children.

2. Collaborative Decision-Making: Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among the governing body, staff, parents, and external stakeholders. Encourage open dialogue and active participation to ensure that decisions are made collectively and align with the preschool's ethos of play, learn, and grow.

3. Financial Management: Oversee the financial management of the preschool, working closely with the treasurer and committee. Ensure sound financial practices, budgeting, and resource allocation to maintain the smooth operation of the preschool and the delivery of high-quality education.

4. Staff Support and Development: Encouage a positive and supportive work environment for our staff, recognising their contributions and providing guidance and mentorship as needed. Encourage professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in early childhood education.

5. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a spokesperson and advocate for Hauxton Preschool within the local community and wider networks. Build strong relationships with parents, local authorities, and other relevant organisations to promote the preschool's positive image and enhance partnerships.

6. Safeguarding and Compliance: Ensure that all safeguarding policies and procedures are in place and adhered to, prioritising the safety and well-being of the children in our care. Stay updated on relevant regulations, legislation, and best practices to ensure compliance and the highest standards of care.

7. Fundraising and Promotion: Work collaboratively with the governing body and staff to develop fundraising strategies and initiatives to support the preschool's activities and enhance resources. Promote the preschool through effective marketing and community engagement to attract new families and stakeholders.

8. Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and evaluate the preschool's performance, seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation. Encourage feedback from parents, staff, and stakeholders to ensure that Hauxton Preschool remains at the forefront of early childhood education.
