Are you a Qualified Accountant with experience of chairing strategic meetings? Do you want to give back to a third sector organisation by sharing your knowledge and experience to drive our Group Vision to Create a World Where Everyone Matters?
We have the upcoming position of Treasurer within Inspire North who will act as Chair for our Resources & Risk Assurance Sub-Committee. This sub-committee oversees all financial aspects of our organisation along with corporate risk, internal audits, IT and Employer Health & Safety.
We are also looking for following skills or areas of expertise:
Essential:
- Qualified Account
- Experience of chairing strategic meetings
- Skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial implications
- Ability to support the CFO to explain financial analysis clearly and make recommendations to the Board
- Expertise in internal and external audit functions, risk and value for money
- A strategical thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with other trustees and senior leaders within the organisation.
Desirable:
- Ability to navigate a strongly regulated sector with an understanding of the regulatory framework for registered housing providers
- An understanding of strategy and compliance within IT or Employer Health & Safety

A Trustee's ability to contribute will not always draw on professional and/or practitioner experience at a senior level. All applications will be considered based on skills, experience, and diversity of perspectives. You do not need previous board experience.
You will need:

- The ability to think strategically and make good decisions
- A collaborative approach with colleagues
- Effective self-management
Potential trustees must be eligible in line with Charity Commission regulations which are available from www.charitycommission.gov.uk.
Trustee commitment: You will need to be able to commit to approximately 1 day each month max. This includes meetings, reading papers, board away day etc. Both the Board and the Resources & Risk Assurance Sub-Committee meet quarterly on a Friday.
Our Head Office is based in Leeds however we now hold our meetings in a hybrid setting with some trustees attending in person and some attending virtually via Microsoft Teams. This opens up the opportunity to have trustees who live and work across England. We only ask you attend our 2 annual board away days in person to give everyone a chance to meet each other in the real world. Reasonable travel expenses will of course be reimbursed.
