Job Details

The Invictus Games Foundation was established in 2014 following the inaugural Games in London.

Returning from deployment in Afghanistan, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, watched as the coffin of a Danish Soldier was loaded aboard for repatriation, alongside three injured British soldiers. That moment had a profound impact on him and, following a visit to the US Warrior Games in 2013, he was inspired to create the international Invictus Games to celebrate the unconquered human spirit, and shine a spotlight on these men and women who served.

The Invictus Games Foundation offers a recovery pathway for international wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women (WIS). We collaborate to provide opportunities for post-traumatic growth: enabling those involved to reclaim their purpose, identity and future, beyond injury.

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to collaborate closely with members of the Executive Team and Board of Trustees to develop a holistic commercial and philanthropic fundraising strategy that will position the Invictus Games Foundation to maximise its long-term, global impact.

As Development and Advancement Director you will have a platform to build and deepen the Invictus Games Foundation’s brand globally, identify and capitalise on opportunities to diversify its income streams in all respects, and manage strategically important relationships with a range of existing and potential partners.

To succeed in this role, you will share the Invictus Games Foundation’s belief that sport has the power to help servicemen and women suffering from a range of illnesses and injuries. You will need to be able to draw on a demonstrable track record of building and managing significant commercial and high-level donor relationships globally, and excel at effectively managing complex stakeholder relationships.

For further details, including the job description, person specification, and information on how to apply, please visit quoting reference number 7255. Candidates wishing to apply should submit a CV (including comprehensive details of key achievements and responsibilities) along with a covering letter which fully addresses the competencies outlined in the role description and person specification.

The closing date for applications is 9am BST on Friday 3rd May 2024.

It was established following the success of the first Invictus Games in London in 2014, with the aim of spreading the Invictus Spirit worldwide. The Invictus Games Foundation governs the delivery of the Invictus Games, runs an online community (We Are Invictus) and as well as provides year-round sport recovery and adventurous challenge opportunities beyond the Games across 23 nations.

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, is Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation and founder of the Invictus Games, which has so far been held in London 2014, Orlando 2016, Toronto 2017, Sydney 2018, The Hague 2022, and Dusseldorf 2023.
