Monday – Friday, 09.00 – 17.00 • Hybrid working • 52 weeks per annum
Salary: Competitive salary, pension & company benefits
Based in Ascot, Berkshire
Hospitality is one of the largest industries in the U.K. Would you like to make a difference to licensed drinks people that may need our help in supporting them to access financial grants and advise them about a huge range of other free services to support them?
About the role:
This role will be one of three caseworker roles in our team.
You would be responsible for managing your own casework of applications for financial support at various stages, from the very initial conversations and checking eligibility criteria, through gathering additional support evidence, verifying bank statements, to making and communicating grant decisions.
You will suggest what support is appropriate to our applicants and get cases ready to submit grant applications to our Charity Services Committee.
- Analyzing applicant’s income and expenditure and comparing against the Minimum Income Standard.
- Obtaining information about their unique family, housing, health, and social circumstances.
- Verifying employment history to confirm eligibility.
- Obtaining and verifying supporting evidence on each application.
The above information will help the committee to have a comprehensive picture of each application for financial support. You will also make decisions in conjunction with your colleagues on awards of up to £2k.
The role is as much about providing information and a friendly listening ear as signposting people to find more specialist advice.
You will also support the team with other tasks when needed (such as covering annual leave or sickness absences), such as:
- Applications for bursary places at our school LVS Ascot.
- Support our volunteer manager by arranging volunteer visits to our applicants.
- Support the team by arranging for weekly and monthly payments to our beneficiaries.
- Dealing with initial email and telephone enquiries and explaining our application process to people who wish to apply.
We need someone who is passionate and motivated about providing support in a non-judgmental way. We put our diverse clients at the heart of what we do, and we work together to maintain outstanding levels of customer service.
From time to time, you will have to deal with sensitive subjects and difficult conversations, therefore the ability to actively listen is essential. This role will suit someone who has good awareness around own resilience levels. We work closely as a team to support each other when dealing with distressing cases and have our own dedicated helpline for practical and emotional support.
Extensive experience of either working in hospitality and therefore industry insights or experience in a grant giving organization will put you in an advantageous position.
The role would suit someone that has experience of supporting people who are experiencing tough times and giving them the confidence to break their problems into manageable bite size pieces.
