About Us

We’re Learning and Work Institute, an independent policy, research and development organisation dedicated to promoting lifelong learning, full employment and inclusion.

We're focused on the big questions. How do we help more people find work and build careers in a changing jobs market? How do we help people to be active and engaged citizens? How can more adults develop their skills over their lifetime?

We are now looking for Board Trustees to join our experienced Board on a voluntary basis.

If you have an understanding of governance, great analytical skills and knowledge and experience that can be applied to discussions and decisions at Board level, this is an exceptional opportunity to join our Board.

Joining an organisation at the forefront of promoting lifelong learning, you’ll discover a team with a shared commitment to social justice and promoting learning opportunities for everyone, gaining an array of senior-level experience and enhancing your professional portfolio.

So, if you want to make a positive impact at a strategic level and help us shape a brighter future, read on and apply today!

The Role

As one of our ten Board Trustees, you will be responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity and its financial health.

You will help to develop the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, and legal and regulatory guidelines. Our latest financial statements and strategic plan can be found on the about us pages of our website.

You’ll enable us to achieve our mission of widening access to learning and work opportunities so we can work towards a society in which everyone can realise their potential.

The closing date for this role is the 4th December 2023.
