This ambitious new role will be leading a new team bringing together the Adult and Child Bereavement Services to work collaboratively and creatively with leaders across all the hospice services.

About the Role

The Head of Adult and Child Bereavement Services will provide strong management and leadership to the Adult and Child Bereavement teams. Leading both the Adult and Child Bereavement Co-ordinators you will work with the multi-professional teams, Adult and Child services including team volunteers to ensure that all families receive appropriate and timely bereavement support and information.  

You will contribute to the development of a new three-year Bereavement strategy and working with the Director of Quality and Innovation you will evaluate current bereavement provision, looking for new opportunities to ensure the continuous development, and sustainability of our bereavement services.

You will ensure systems and procedures are developed with agreed outcomes, using both personal knowledge and evidence driven practices to ensure consistency and quality.

Prepare regular reports for the Quality and Impact governance committee, The Executive Team, Commissioners, and other stakeholders drawing on data from relevant systems and information from Team Co-ordinators.

Maintain a safe working environment through the monitoring of risks, the timely reporting of incidents and the promotion of a culture of reflection and learning.

 

What you will need to succeed  

A dynamic and emotionally resilient leader with the motivate, develop and encourage others to be the best they can be.

The ability to lead projects and be a role model to introducing change effectively, being proactive and able to use own initiative, managing time and resources effectively.

You will have a comprehensive knowledge of child and adult bereavement, alongside significant practice-based experience of supporting children and adults in bereavement.

Experience and knowledge of local and national guidelines for safeguarding adults and children and understanding of nationwide initiatives on bereavement in order to meet requirements for delivering best practice standards to service users.

Experience of working with volunteers, together with an understanding of their expectations, needs and limitations.
