Salary
Up to £36,000 per annum
Closing date

About the role

As the Senior Trusts & Statutory Officer within the Major Giving team you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of relationships with new and existing SSAFA funders.

This will involve researching new opportunities for the organisation, overseeing approaches for support, and managing reporting requirements. This is an existing role, and you will be joining at an exciting time of expansion of and investment in SSAFA's fundraising activities, in light of the recent launch of our 2022-2027 organisational strategic plan.

About the team

The Major Giving Team is a welcoming and diverse group of individuals who are keen to learn from others, as well as share their insight and experience. Your work will cross-pollinate with other colleagues in the team who work across trusts and foundations, major donors and statutory funders. You will also collaborate regularly with staff in our service delivery teams.

You will be provided with ongoing support, training and mentoring through regular meetings with your line manager, as well as the wider team. We encourage a hybrid approach to work in our team, attending Central Office when required, while also working from home in a collaborative way on other days. This ensures we stay well connected to colleagues and can continue to share the enthusiasm and drive that fuels our team’s ongoing success.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be a natural communicator with a strong understanding of trust, foundation, and statutory fundraising.  You will have a track record of developing relationships with various funding partners, whether existing or prospective, while also seeking new opportunities.

We are looking for someone who is able to represent the charity confidently with external stakeholders, make positive connections, and produce excellent written communication for a variety of audiences, when required.

Working directly with the Trusts Manager - and collaboratively with the Major Giving Team and wider Fundraising department from time to time - this role is key to the success of an ongoing increase in income within the team. The need to work independently and be highly self-motivated is important.

About SSAFA

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing practical, emotional, and financial support to our Forces and their families since 1885. Last year our teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 79,000 people in need, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts or are still currently serving, and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. We are here for that person – any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us.

Diversity and Inclusion at SSAFA

SSAFA exists to support a diverse range of beneficiaries within the armed forces community, and we believe diversity within our teams is key to ensuring we can deliver our services effectively. We thrive on differences and believe it is critical to our success as a worldwide charity. SSAFA is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace that seeks to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We therefore encourage applications from all genders, races, religions, ages and sexual orientations, as well as parents, veterans, people living with disabilities, and any other groups that could bring diverse perspectives to our business.

SSAFA is committed to using the Disclosure & Barring Service to ensure we, as an employer, safeguard those we serve.

No agencies please. Any unsolicited submissions from agencies will be accepted as a direct application from the candidate and no fees will be payable.

Closing date: Midnight on 29th August 2022. SSAFA reserves the right to close the vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.

Interviews: First stage interviews will take place virtually on week commencing 5th September 2022
