Charity Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic manager to deliver high-quality business support to a long-established sight loss charity, now in its centenary year, to take the charity forwards in its development.

Position: Manager

Location: Hybrid working can be agreed, subject to at least 15 hours per week worked at the office in Shrewsbury

Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week (flexible working)

Salary: £25,000 - £28,750 pro rata (actual salary for 30 hours per week £20,000 - £23,000)

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: 28 days annual leave (including bank holiday) and pension

The Role

The Manager will work under light-touch guidance of the part-time Charity Director. Most of the working time will be undertaken without direct supervision, but frequent, regular contact with the part time Charity Director will be available to support, mentor and guide the post holder.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

 

  • Identify opportunities to increase income generation
  • Prepare bids for additional funds
  • Collect and evaluate data and information on the impact of services
  • Plan, deliver and expand our programme, including organising speakers from external agencies and partner organisations, as well as promotion of the programme to external agencies, partner organisations and people with sight loss.
  • Recruit and co-ordinate volunteers working for the charity
  • Keep the charity’s website up to date
  • Promote and advertise the charity and its services via social media
  • Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of a new Administrative Assistant role (a 15 hour per week role)
  • Ongoing supervision of the Administrative Assistant to ensure key tasks are completed to the required standard.

 

About You

As the Manager, you will have an excellent understanding of customer service, understanding confidentiality and dealing with sensitive information appropriately.

You will have:

 

  • Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures that promote efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Computer literacy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic website maintenance skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail for high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong personal organisational skills, able to prioritise and manage own time and workload.
  • A logical and methodical approach to maintaining systems, including electronic and paper filing.
  • Ability to research, collate and evaluate information.
  • Effective at building and maintaining relationships with clients, colleagues, suppliers etc.
  • Experience of income generation within a social sector organisation
  • Experience of writing bids
  • Successful management of direct reports
  • Experience in delivering high quality customer services.
  • Experience of using IT systems and databases

 

About the Organisation

The beneficiaries of the charity’s activities are people of any age with sight loss who are resident either in the administrative County of Shropshire or in the Borough of Telford & Wrekin.
