Job Details

Location: Uckfield, East Sussex (Hybrid)

International Animal Rescue (IAR) is an award winning charity based in Uckfield, East Sussex, committed to animal welfare and conservation. At IAR we do exactly what our name suggests; we save animals from suffering around the world and protect their habitats. We rescue and rehabilitate orangutans in Indonesia, release bears in Armenia from caged captivity, treat injured howler monkeys in Costa Rica and care for ex-dancing bears in India - and so much more. Whenever we can, we release rescued animals back into the wild; and when that's not possible, we give them a safe haven for life.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is inspired and motivated by the work of IAR. This is a role for a finance professional who is passionate about animal welfare and conservation.

We care about creating a diverse and inclusive team and we welcome people from all backgrounds, with different perspectives, ideas and experiences to work with us.

Job Description – Role and Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly payroll, ensuring all staff are paid on time.
  • Provide accounting support for smaller affiliate charities.
  • Work collaboratively with the finance, fundraising, and supporter care teams.
  • Assist the Head of Finance in the management of external partners.

Abilities & Competencies

  • Qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW or equivalent) ideally.

  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the finance team and wider organisation.
  • Highly computer literate with fluency in excel and other MS Office applications, as well as the ability to adapt to new systems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience performing reconciliations of financial systems.
