Schools Coordinator

We are seeking a Schools Coordinator to cover the North West to help drive an abuse prevention programme in schools.

The role is with a charity whose Schools Service is an integral part of their mission to protect children from all forms of abuse.

Position: Schools Coordinator

Salary: £24, 746 (FTE) plus £500 home user allowance

Location: Homebased, covering the North West including Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time (35 hours)

Closing Date: 10th August 2022

Provisional interview dates: First stage video interviews on Thursday 18th August. Final stage video interviews on Monday 22nd August

The Role:

In 2021, this national charity announced a new 10+ year strategy to make the biggest impact to stop child abuse and neglect. Their Local Services teams are an essential part of how their three main goals will be delivered:

  • Everyone plays their part to prevent child abuse.
  • Every child is safe online.
  • Children feel safe, listened to and supported.

Local Services brings together work in schools, local campaigning and the charity’s direct services across 9 regions and nations. The North West Schools Service team plays an integral part of that mission as it's responsible for delivering the schools offer.

Reporting to the North West Schools Manager, the Schools Coordinator role will be the single point of contact for all primary school settings. Working to set targets, you will be responsible for building and maintaining school relationships, co-ordinating the delivery of the Speak out. Stay safe online programme and wider school offer, including settings with SEND provision.

You will be responsible for the supervision, retention and ongoing development of an existing team of local volunteers who will directly deliver elements of the schools offer in classrooms. You will maximise opportunities and partnership working to attract, recruit and train new volunteers.

You will seek opportunities to work externally with key partners and stakeholders, such as local authorities and senior school leaders, representing Local Services and the Schools Service to capitalise on the impact and reach of services for children.

You will be an active contributor to internal projects and workstreams, to help drive and develop the offer for schools and grow the service. The charity plans to broaden their reach as well as develop a secondary school offer in the future.

About You

As a member of the team, the organisational values and behaviours would be important to you. You will need to take a child-centred approach, have a strong belief in the rights of children, and have a clear understanding and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of life and practice.

You will have relevant experience of delivering programmes in an educational or safeguarding setting. You will also have followed safeguarding procedures, have excellent relationship management skills, enjoy working with people, have experience in all elements of volunteer management, have strong planning and organisational skills and have experience of meeting set targets.

These are permanent, home based positions requiring travel throughout the area, so you must live within the North West region, within either Bolton, Bury, Oldham or Rochdale Local Authorities with access to and daily use of a car.

In Return

We know that the main reward is making a difference to children’s lives, but you will also be rewarded with a variety of rewards and benefits including generous annual leave, employee benefits and assistance programme, pension and life assurance schemes.

Join this amazing organisation and you’ll become part of a team that cares about the work they do and the people they work with. You’ll discover opportunities to grow, along with challenges and a shared purpose that’ll bring the best out in you. And you’ll get to find your own way to make a difference that means more, and that impacts millions of young lives.

Other roles you may have experience of could include Community Engagement, School Impact Officer, School coordinator, School Partnerships, Teacher, Education, School Engagement, School Leadership, Schools, Charity, Not for Profit, Education, etc.
