Job Title:  TRUSTS AND GRANTS MANAGER for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust 

Accountable to:  The AAT Board of Trustees 

Reporting to: CEO  

Based at: Home  

Terms: Part-time (2.5 days per week. Some flexibility about when work is done. Some additional hours may be required on evening and weekends and agreed with line manager’s discretion) 

Salary: £32k - £37k pro rata dependant on experience 

Pension: NESTA scheme  

Annual leave: 25 days pro rata 

Hours of work per week: 17.5 hours Pro Rata 

Probationary period: 3 months  

 

 About The AAT 

  • A small but mighty rare disease charity. The UK’s only charity offering information and support for people living with aplastic anaemia, and funding research into better treatments and a cure.

Person specification  

Are you an expert written communicator? Do you love the thrill of securing funding for important charity work? Do you bring experience and a successful track record in trusts and grants fundraising?  

This income stream has been developed over the last year, and we have ambitions to grow income from trusts and grants to support our future plans. 

This role will contribute to the wider fundraising strategy and support with building new income streams through powerful reporting and stewardship.  

As a small charity, there is the opportunity to work across the whole team, collaborating with our Support and Outreach team to define and develop funding propositions and proposals, in support of our strategy and delivery plan. You will work closely with our active and engaged community. 

 

Job Summary 

  • To secure trusts and grants fundraising  To manage relationships with funders, including excellent thanking, acknowledgement, reporting and stewardship  Support the monitoring and evaluation needed to report to funders  Work closely alongside the Finance Manager, CEO, Head of Communications and Fundraising, and Board of Trustees. 

This role is vital for taking the organisation to the next stage in its development and growth.  

Responsibilities 

Trusts and Foundations Fundraising 

  • To support and oversee trusts and foundations relationships on behalf of The Aplastic Anaemia Trust, helping to identify who should undertake which activity.  Develop compelling case for supports based on our projects and interventions.   Manage and develop clear and realistically weighted Trust and Foundation pipeline, write and submit excellent quality applications.   Set and work to targets with the Fundraising Manager.   Maintain the CRM database with up-to-date contact information of funders and communications to ensure effective and efficient fundraising.   Work in collaboration with the CEO and Fundraising Manager to develop and deliver the fundraising strategy.  

 

Key Skills and Experience 

  • Experience of trusts and grants fundraising with a successful track record    Excellent written and verbal communicator  Proactive in seeking opportunities – experienced in researching, identifying and converting opportunities.   An organised self-starter, able to project manage your own work and ensure deadlines and timeframes are met for our funders.   Passionate about improving the experience of people living with rare diseases and able to tell the story in a compelling and meaningful way.  Team-oriented and keen to collaborate in order to get the best outcome for the patient community and The Aplastic Anaemia Trust, and enjoy working across the whole organisation.
