Job Details

Teenage Cancer Trust leads the way in specialist support for young people with cancer in the UK. We’re driven by what young people with cancer need and are the UK’s leading charity dedicated solely to the treatment, care and support of 13–24 year-olds with cancer.

Teenage Cancer Trust has a stretching two-year strategy and an enormously ambitious goal that by 2040, young people with cancer in the UK will have the best outcomes and quality of life in the world. Now is the time to press on and be bold so we can increase our impact. Our new fundraising plan – alongside the results of the last two years and the talented team we have in place - means we are in the right place to invest more in changing the lives of young people with cancer across the UK.

We are now looking to recruit a new Director of Finance, Performance & Governance. We’re not looking for a traditional Finance Director – we need a colleague and ally with the experience and leadership appetite to enable us to take a more courageous and agile approach to planning and growth. The new Director will provide strategic vision and leadership that enables Teenage Cancer Trust to maximise sustainable growth and impact.

We need a leader who will thrive when developing and managing the performance and talent of your direct and wider team in the Finance & Performance Directorate and who, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, is energised by shaping and embedding our organizational strategy to ensure we positively influence the outcomes of young people with cancer in the UK and beyond. We’re looking for someone who works individually and with others in a way that embraces, embeds and reflects our organizational values and behaviours and who will empower colleagues across the charity to take responsibility and make decisions that drive progress towards our goals

Teenage Cancer Trust welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences. In line with our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion commitments, we would love to see applications from LGBTQ+ people, people of color/those from ethnically diverse communities, people living with disabilities and people of faith.

Company

At Teenage Cancer Trust, we understand that young people with cancer require specialist care. We know how damaging it is to take a young person away from their everyday life, their friends, their environment, their family – and put them in a cancer ward with small children or older people.

We don’t believe that teenagers should have to stop being teenagers, just because they have cancer. We do believe that young people have a much better chance in their fight against cancer if they are treated by teenage cancer experts, in an environment tailored to their needs. So we’re working every day to make that happen.

Teenage Cancer Trust units aren’t like ordinary cancer wards. Everything about them has been designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. We want every young person with cancer in this country to have that chance.

We estimate that with the units we currently have around the UK, half of the teenagers diagnosed with cancer now have access to this dedicated, specialist support. Our aim is to build enough units so that every teenager in the UK will be treated on one.
