Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) is a national disability charity based in Surrey, with over 85 years’ experience of providing innovative services that support disabled people of all ages to increase their mobility and maximise their independence and live the life they choose.

Our teams provide expert advice and life-changing services that enable almost 10,000 disabled adults and children a year to develop key life skills, whether it’s to live as independently as possible, neuro rehabilitation to rebuild a life after a stroke or brain injury, learning to drive a specially adapted car or loaning mini powered wheelchairs to young children without independent mobility.

We want our Trustees to understand, align and live the cause so if you were inspired by our clients, families and their stories of achieving greater independence with the support and encouragement of our Charity we’d like to hear from you. You don’t need to have previous trustee experience but you will have skills in one or more of the following:

  • Lived experience of disability either through supporting a family member or friend or considering yourself as disabled
  • Corporate Law
  • Property including social housing or development
  • Strategic HR and Organisational development
  • Service Transformation
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Here at QEF we believe the gift of giving isn’t just financial and if you have the time, enthusiasm, are passionate about supporting people with a disability to have greater independence, choice and control over their lives. To do this we need Trustees that want the opportunity to bring fresh ideas, innovation, constructive positive challenge and energy to help us develop and deliver our new 3 year strategy to enable our clients, resident customers and their families to achieve goals for life. You have to be a special person to understand special outcomes for those who live with disability.

If you have the experience and dedication to join us, please get in touch by visiting our website via the link. Application closing date 28th July 2022

Planned dates for service visits and the formal selection process are 2nd or 3rd of August 2022.

QEF is committed to achieving greater diversity and welcomes applications from currently under-represented groups at Board level.  As a Disability Confident Employer we encourage applicants with lived experience and those who consider themselves disabled. Please advise Tiffeny if you require any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.
