This is an opportunity to join the Board of a unique organisation ensuring that every young person, regardless of background or location, has the opportunity to become a member of a uniformed youth group.

Youth United Foundation developed from the passion of our Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales, for ensuring that every young person – especially those facing disadvantage – have the opportunity to become a member of a uniformed youth group and through his recognition that there was a huge opportunity for mutual support and collaboration between the uniformed youth charities.

Today, Youth United is a network of 11 uniformed youth organisations, each with their own strong brands and unique programmes that make them appealing to different types of young people. Collectively, the network positively impactsthe lives of 1.5 million young people, giving them a sense of belonging, building their confidence and developing life skills that make them more employable and able to contribute to the communities in which they live.

The Foundation provides life-changing opportunities to young people by supporting the network through facilitating funded projects to work together to target hard to reach young people by creating more places and opening more youth groups in disadvantaged communities. To date, the Foundation has supported the network in attracting thousands of new volunteers and creating over 53,000 new places, providing fun and vital life skills that will support young people’s employability and social mobility.

The Foundation is also a widely respected and valued voice within government and among key stakeholders, acting as an advocate for uniformed youth.

We believe that uniformed youth organisations offer young people a plethora of skills and experiences, laying the building blocks for them to overcome any barriers they may face and empowering them to be the best that they can be. If you share our passion for ensuring that all young people have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and our belief that uniformed youth organisations have a significant part to play in this, we very much hope you will be keen to join us and be part of our exciting future to help shape YUF.

Who we’re looking for:

Our ideal candidates will be passionate about young people and bring a wealth of knowledge that can support the board, such as expertise in communications and media, governance, or an understanding of how to attract government and private sector funding. We are keen to ensure our board is diverse, represents our society and is inclusive, with members bringing many different perspectives.

We expect the time commitment for Trustees to be up to a day a month.

We are keen to encourage applications from as diverse a range of candidates as possible, to ensure we have an inclusive Board with different skills and perspectives, and welcome applications from a wide range of backgrounds.

This is an opportunity to join the Board of a respected and valued organisation at the heart of advocacy for uniformed youth.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 24th July 2022.

We are expecting to interview potential candidates on Friday 29th July 2022, via Zoom.

Please apply to Louisa Sawyer with a covering email and your up to date C.V. We look forward to hearing from you.
