Following recent expansion, the charity is looking to expand the management team and are currently looking for a deputy manager to join them. There is a team of 20 employees across 2 sites; the organisation place a high value on mutual support, sharing their wide-ranging knowledge and expertise, and maintaining close working relationships. There are lots of opportunities for staff to develop areas of interest on an individual and team basis. The charity is committed to the wellbeing of their staff, and this remains a high priority alongside providing excellent support for their service users.

The charity is looking for someone who is resilient, motivated and pro-active, with a strong commitment to service user involvement.

Purpose of the job

The Deputy Project Manager will support Safe Haven Managers in leading and managing a team of Safe Haven staff working at Oxfordshire Projects (currently Oxford and Banbury). Their role will be split between providing mental health support and supporting staff in delivering a high-quality service. They will liaise closely with partners, professionals and community groups. Alongside other Safe Haven Project Managers and Deputies, the post holder will support the expansion of the service.

Working at Safe Haven

Safe Haven offers same-day support for those who struggle with their mental health and are experiencing particular distress. People can self-refer or be referred by a professional to get an appointment for one-to-one support face to face or on the phone, or access ‘grounding’ or ‘refocusing’ activities in a calming and supportive environment. The goal is to support people in creating and following safety plans, developing new coping strategies and encouraging them to use the support available to them.

Staff work-life balance is important to the charity, and they will try to consider prior commitments when planning the rota where possible. The Deputy Project Manager will be working shift patterns (AM: 11am-6.30pm; PM: 4pm-11.30pm) including some weekends and bank holidays. This will be as part of a repeating 2-weekly pattern where we also commit to staff having every other weekend off unless agreed otherwise.

The base for this role will be Oxford but travel to other parts of Oxfordshire will be required at times and use of a car with business insurance is beneficial but not essential. Travel expenses outside of your work base will be covered.
