Perennial is a charity dedicated to helping people in horticulture. Together with our network of partners, we provide free support, information, advice, financial assistance and services for horticulturalists and their loved ones experiencing illness, disability, bereavement, family breakdown and financial difficulties.

We have a real focus on improving the health and well-being outcomes of people working in horticulture and have an ambitious preventative strategy to create better futures for people working in horticulture.

We are now looking for an Apprentice Gardener, to join our team on a 24-month Fixed Term apprenticeship, working 37.5 hours per week.

The Role

As an Apprentice Gardener, you will learn and undertake a full range of seasonal gardening tasks under the supervision and direction of our Head Gardener.

You will learn a variety of activities and skills, that you will apply in the general maintenance and upkeep of our garden. These include pruning, propagating, lawn care and nursery work.

Alongside your horticultural training, your activities will support the opening of our garden, including helping members of the public. Working with our team, you will support activities such as volunteering or special events.

About You

To be considered as an Apprentice Gardener, you will need:

- Experience of working outdoors
- To demonstrate that you are committed to pursuing a career in horticulture
- A flexible and friendly approach to working in the garden
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and methodically in a safe manner
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team

Ideally, you will have some practical experience of working in horticulture whether paid or voluntary.

The closing date for applications is 31st July 2022.

Interviews will be held on 4th August 2022.
