SOCIAL WORKER

When a child is diagnosed with cancer life becomes full of fear, for them and their family. Fear of treatment, but also of families being torn apart, overwhelming money worries, of having nowhere to turn, no one to talk to.

Our client helps families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. And you could be a part of the team making it happen.

THE ROLE

They are looking for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to support children and young people diagnosed with cancer and and their families digitally, as a member of their Central Support & Social Care team. This is a mixed staff and volunteer team delivering UK-wide digital and phone-based support to children and young people diagnosed with cancer and their families. The team provides an additional point of entry to Our client’s services, alongside their local social care teams based in hospitals.

The role is 35 hours per week. You can be based anywhere in the UK, as long as you have a quiet, private space to work from. This is a permanent contract.

The closing date for applying is Sunday 10th July, with interviews taking place from Wednesday 13 July.

Our client is open to and in support of flexible working. They are currently defining their approach to hybrid working. Your flexibility requirements and that of the role will be discussed at interview stage with you.

This role falls under the home-based category. This role is home based and can be based anywhere in the UK with occasional visits to Our client workplaces.

ABOUT YOU

Their work is rewarding but also complex and demanding; you will need to be resourceful and resilient. You will also need strong digital skills, and the ability to work at pace across multiple digital channels.

As well as current social work registration you will have:

• Experience working with children, young people and their families/carers in a social care setting
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment
• Knowledge of child and young people development
• An understanding of the impact of serious illness for children, young people and families.
• It is desirable that you have experience working in an NHS setting.
