About Us

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is the largest voluntary Movement dedicated to empowering girls and young women in the world. We represent over 8 million girls and young women across 150 countries.

We believe girls have the right to an equal, safe and sustainable world. Unfortunately, around the globe, multiple barriers, inequalities and lack of opportunities are still preventing girls from reaching their full potential and shaping the world they want to see.

At WAGGGS, we deliver a range of transformational global programmes and events to tackle this very problem. Built on the power of a non-formal education approach, a unique leadership development model for all girls of any age and a strong focus on girl-led advocacy we give girls the confidence, resilience and sense of empowerment they need to take the lead in their lives, driving change on the issues that matter to them, their communities, and the world around them. Incredibly, this activity is delivered and led by a vast and passionate community of volunteers working at a grassroots level, making our model truly sustainable.

We believe in an equal world where all girls can thrive, where every and any girl feels confident to lead and empowered to create a better world together.

About the Role:

The role is to support the communications needs of the global programmes delivered by WAGGGS Global Programmes Team and the Strategic Partnerships Team that fund and support these programmes. The role will also support the development of WAGGGS global campaigns such as International Women's Day and International Day of the Girl.

WAGGGS delivers a wide range of unique programmes which provide non-formal educational activities, events and advocacy opportunities to girls and young women worldwide. Our mission is to help every girl reach her full potential. These programmes include Free Being Me, Stop the Violence, Surf Smart, the YESS Girls Movement, Plastic Tide Turners and our new Girl-led Action on Climate Change.

You will be responsible for communicating to the Movement about global programmes, as well as identifying and leading external communications opportunities to amplify our global programmes, associated partnerships and global campaigns. Your work will demonstrate value for our partners that include corporates such as Dove and Norton and multinational entities such as UN Women. An exciting and varied role, you will work collaboratively with multiple teams, telling the inspiring stories of our projects’ impact around the world.

About You:

As a successful candidate, you will have a strong background in communications, including developing and implementing a cross department or organisational communications strategy. You will have a great track record of web, social media content development and associated trends experience.

The ideal candidate will have a ‘can-do’ attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, be highly organised, team-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, with knowledge of other languages desirable but not essential.
