Job Details

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) is one of the 46 UK Wildlife Trusts. Established in 1970 we are a grass roots organisation governed by 14 trustees elected from a membership of 26,000 people, 99% of whom live in the county, and supported by 700 active volunteers. We manage an estate covering 1,000 hectares in Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull and no one living or working in that area is more than 6 miles from one of our 67 nature reserves.

As members of the influential network of Wildlife Trusts, we are part of a collective covering the whole of the UK with 870,000 members, 32,500 volunteers, 2,500 staff and 600 trustees, all working together through a central unit, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts (TWT). Together we are on a mission to restore a third of the UK’s land and seas for nature by 2030. We believe everyone, everywhere, should have access to nature and the joy and health benefits it brings. Each Wildlife Trust is an independent charity formed by people getting together to make a positive difference for wildlife, climate and future generations. Together we care for 2,300 diverse and beautiful nature reserves and work with others to manage their land for nature, too.

WWT is embarking on an ambitious new ten-year strategy. By 2030 we want to have put wildlife into recovery by creating more space for nature with more people on nature’s side.

In order to deliver our ambitions for nature and people, we need to diversify and increase our unrestricted income, and we are looking for committed and enthusiastic fundraiser with experience of developing productive relationships with donors to drive this area of work.

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s 26,000 strong membership base, managed by the membership team, delivers a consistent and valuable channel of unrestricted income for the Trust. This, alongside grants received from funders, and returns from our commercial trading subsidiary, Middlemarch Environmental Ltd, allows us to deliver a huge volume of work across the county. The Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager role, new to the Trust, will be responsible for developing and driving forward a range of new initiatives. These include a new Major Donor Programme and further developing our legacy stewardship scheme which has raised £1.6m for the Trust over the past 5 years. In this way you will increase unrestricted income to further support our strategic aims. The successful application will oversee the fundraising budget and set annual plans that align with the Trust’s strategic objectives and work with departments across the Trust to drive the delivery of successful fundraising campaigns.

You will be a passionate, relationship-focused and target driven fundraiser with the ability to inspire and lead others, develop external relationships, and achieve excellent results whilst working collaboratively with colleagues at the Trust and across the movement.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a real impact on how we develop fundraising at the Trust in line with our strategic goals of more space for nature, with more people on nature’s side. In return we can offer you a varied role, daily interaction with highly committed colleagues passionate about their work and, when you need to be in the office, bases set in the heart of our largest nature reserve at Brandon Marsh, or at reserves in Solihull and Coleshill.

If you are interested in using your expertise to help us then we would be delighted to receive your application.

We are the leading local charity working for wildlife and local communities across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull.

The Trust has worked for more than 50 years to protect wildlife and wild places and to educate, influence and inspire people about nature conservation. We manage many of the best sites for wildlife in our county.

Our work is securing a future for many important habitats and species, which might otherwise be lost. In only the past few years, the Trust has;

  • Undertaken further wetland enhancement work at Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, creating the largest area of reedbed habitat in the West Midlands, hopefully securing a future for the bittern, one of the UK’s most endangered birds.
  • Worked tirelessly to secure a future for our county’s water vole and otter populations
  • Maintained and enhanced some of the last remaining ancient woodland habitats left in Warwickshire today
  • Enabled thousands of volunteers, schools and community groups to take positive action for wildlife in their local environment
  • Given advice to local landowners on how to manage their land for wildlife.
  • Campaigned successfully for wildlife friendly development
  • Inspired thousands of school children through natural play

We see the future of wildlife conservation across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull as a Living Landscape. We are identifying key areas to conserve for wildlife; we are striving to enhance them, linking them up across the county in partnership with other land-owners.

With your help we can create this living landscape, where wildlife can thrive and people are reconnected with nature.
