What it's about
We are looking for a talented Corporate Communications Manager to join our team, to help us communicate our latest news, stories and updates to our growing number of schools, students and parents around the world.
This is an incredibly exciting time to be joining our organisation. The number of schools we work with globally is growing fast and we need great people to help us to provide the best support and communications possible to our school communities, students and parents.
What you'll be doing
As the Corporate Communications Manager, you will write engaging and accurate copy for a range of external digital and traditional channels including drafting content for our newsletters, website and social media channels. You will have first class editing and proof-reading skills and be able to support colleagues around the world with delivering high quality communications for a range of audiences.
You will support the production of our flagship school's magazine ‘Outlook' three times a year and support the development of our regular enews' to schools.
Working with our freelancers you will lead the delivery of other key publications and customer communications including developing case studies, destination guides, Annual Review, and other key documents and reports, ensuring the content reflects our latest developments, messages and our education philosophy.
You will provide editorial support to our Teaching and Learning team and manage the development of new publications and updates to existing publications targeted at educators. These include our popular ‘Getting Started Guides' and education briefs.
Working with our social media manager you will manage the development and delivery of blogs on key educational topics and themes for our website and other external channels.
Our senior leaders frequently speak at education conferences and events around the world and you will be supporting them and our team to draft and develop engaging speeches and presentations.
A key part of your role will be to lead communications about our research projects and their findings, to ensure we share these with our principals, teachers and parents. As part of this work you'll identify interesting findings that you can use to create press releases, blogs and stories for other external channels and commission visual assets like infographics and video.
You will support our media and PR work, including managing media enquiries and drafting responses to them as well as supporting senior managers during periods of crisis by developing reactive media statements and media Q&As.
You'll work with our regional marketing managers to help them develop various media communications including press releases, by-line articles and media interview briefings. You will also support us to develop successful global PR campaigns that help raise awareness of our programmes and qualifications around the world.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a friendly, tactful and tenacious, team player who is confident engaging with our customers and stakeholders and with building strong relationships with colleagues at all levels in our organisation.
You will have strong communication skills and be well versed in drafting informative, creative and interesting communications in a range of formats and for a variety of audiences.
You will need to prove your past success in a range of writing roles, including compiling and producing newsletters/magazines. You'll be able to show evidence of making academic research accessible to a wide range of audiences - identifying compelling stories, distilling key findings and developing communications for a range of channels.
You will be able to write clear, readable and accurate copy to the highest standard. Using your own excellent editing skills – and those of freelancers you manage – you will make sure our articles and guides are accessible not just to experienced educators, but also to new teachers and parents, many of whom will not have English as a first language.
You will have a nose for a good media story and be at ease identifying strong angles that will help us to achieve positive media coverage of our work around the world. You'll be confident liaising with journalists and managing responses to their requests, as well as advising senior managers on lines to take during periods of crisis.
Ideally, you'll have some experience of writing speeches and/or preparing presentations and notes for senior managers.
You should have a degree (or equivalent), and a good understanding of education. Previous experience of working in an international environment is desirable, but a keen interest in developing communications for a diverse range of international audiences is a must.
