Communications Manager

We are looking for a Communications Manager to help raise the profile and reputation of a Youth Work charity throughout the Black Country and West Midlands.

You will be working for a Youth Work charity that always puts young people at the heart of everything they do. They provide an incredible range of activities from football to mindfulness, dancing to cooking (to be honest there isn't much they don't do!) in a safe, state-of the-art space.

Position: Communications Manager

Salary: Up to £32,000 (pro rata)

Hours: Part time, 24hrs per week – flexible and there may be a need for some evenings and weekend work.

Location: Wolverhampton

About the role:

As Communications Manager you will be the communications professional, you will work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure a collaborative approach to share stories and impact positioning the organisation as a leading local youth charity and help to raise vital funds for them to continue with the delivery of exceptional services. You will also manage the internet, social media and internal and external comms and marketing.

Key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy with a focus on partnership and fundraising communications
  • Build proactive relationships with local and regional media that positions the charity’s brand and generates positive coverage as well as handle press enquiries
  • Ensure that internal and external comms and marketing is of the highest quality and appropriate for the target audience

 

About you:

You will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

 

  • Development of a communications and marketing strategy and accompanying annual plan, in line with organisational strategy
  • Developing creative and engaging web content, and website management
  • Working within a mixed office environment as the communications/marketing expert
  • Using varied IT systems in digital communications
  • Extensive experience of PR and delivering publicity at a local level
  • Advising and communicating to colleagues, partners and third parties on all communications
  • Familiar with all the latest social media applications and how to effectively utilise them for organisational development
  • Ability to handle a varied workload, react quickly, meet deadlines and prioritise tasks

 

Although not essential it would be beneficial for you to have experience of building relationships with senior stakeholders and project and budget management. Being a member of CIPR or CIM would also be desirable.
