Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP) is eight years into delivery of The National Lottery Community Fund’s 10 year “A Better Start“ programme which aims to improve the life chances of babies and very young children by delivering a significant increase in the use of preventative approaches in pregnancy and the first three years of life.

By drawing on the best evidence for interventions in diet and nutrition, social and emotional development and communication and language LEAP is working across the whole early years sector in Lambeth. We have developed a portfolio of early intervention programmes for pregnant women, babies and children 0-3 to ensure that every baby and child has a better start in life.

We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to provide leadership and excellent creative and technical expertise.

In this busy role you will lead the delivery of effective communications campaigns. You’ll plan programme-wide communications products and support the development of communications materials for local practitioners.

You will lead a programme of targeted communications campaigns aimed at increasing local engagement in LEAP services.

This role leads a small team of communications officers and is responsible for developing and delivering an annual communications plan.

You’ll oversee the updating and improvement of the LEAP website, and generate case studies, blogs and other communications products to share LEAP’s learning and best practice.

You’ll liaise with NCB and A Better Start sites nationally to maximise shared marketing and communications opportunities and develop and maintain an understanding of the needs of the LEAP area, and the needs of local communities in relation to communicating key messages.

It is essential therefore that you can demonstrate your experience of how to effectively engage local communities and a strong understanding of communications tools and channels.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and networking skills are also key in order to build and maintain partnerships and engage local stakeholders.
