Your role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Manager to join our established and friendly Cornwall Community Service team

Your role will be a field based position where you will work flexibly whilst covering the geographical area of Cornwall. You will work full time, 35 hours per week on a 12 month fixed term contract with a salary of £25,690.03 to £28,879.59 per annum.

Our Community Service is based in Cornwall and covers a large area across the county.

We provide a service unique for those with a long and enduring mental illness. We promote independence and wellbeing and support those to achieve their goals from a strengths-based approach. We work 1:1 with clients, Group work and with other organisations to promote equality and diversity across the Cornwall area.

What you will be doing

As a Service Manager, you will:

- Lead and develop teams to deliver forward thinking, recovery orientated and high-quality services that meet the needs of individuals and commissioners
- Ensure that effective two-way communications are in place and teams are kept fully informed of national and local developments
- Ensure that the tools of person-centred recovery planning (ISSP) are embedded into local practice and that all staff are utilising RIS (Rethink Information System) correctly to record support activities
- Drive compliance with all policies and regulatory requirements; whilst striving to achieve the best possible outcomes and internal/external recognition of quality
- Ensure all staff are supported and developed through on the job coaching, individual supervision, group supervision and appraisals, identifying and promptly addressing learning and development needs
- Process and authorise staff additional payments, invoices, petty cash, travel bookings, etc in accordance with financial procedures and delegated authorities
- Ensure that services are accessible and meet the needs of service users from a diverse range of backgrounds and are representative of the needs of local communities

What we are looking for:

You’ll have the essentials covered:


- Experience of managing a service in a health or social care setting, including managing & supporting a staff team and volunteers
- Experience of dealing with and reporting incidents, accidents and/or near misses and safeguarding reporting
ability to assess, plan and monitor support to achieve & evidence recovery and service outcomes
- Experience of leading and managing a dispersed team across multiple sites, including recruiting and managing performance
- Significant knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental illness and I am familiar with best practice developments
- Ability to effectively managing budgets
- NVQ 3 / QCF Diploma in Health & Social Care related subject
