Stonewall works for equality and acceptance for LGBTQ+ people in the UK and worldwide. Since we were founded in 1989, our successes span securing legislation that allowed same-sex couples to marry, to the repeal of Section 28. But in the wake of the pandemic and in a world where LGBTQ+ discrimination remains rife, our work remains more vital than ever.

The Director of Fundraising and Business Development will be a visible corporate and senior leader with strategic oversight of our Fundraising and Business Development Directorate. Together with your team, you will build a sustainable, diversified income plan that unlocks our organisational strategy, comprised of commercial revenue, major donor and corporate support and funding from charitable trusts and foundations. You’ll take a networked approach with our programmes, global and nations teams to fully capitalise on diverse fundraising opportunities, and will be skilled at building clear, actionable plans and stakeholder relationship journeys. An empowering manager, you’ll lift the skills of your team to flourish. An inclusive leader, you will ensure that voices of all communities that we represent and their allies are heard in the decisions that we make, with a particular focus on trans and BAME communities who have historically been excluded.

We’re looking for a creative, high integrity and agile fundraising or business development professional who has led teams and built successful income generation strategies. You will be alert to and forward thinking around power and privilege dynamics within fundraising, and will bring high levels of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skill to your work. A strategic thinker, excellent listener and natural influencer, you will champion LGBTQ+ rights, including our approach to race equity and trans inclusion, and relish the opportunity to grow and diversity our income plans in line with our ambitious strategy.
