The Commonwealth War Graves Commission is a highly respected and prestigious global organisation. We honour and care for the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, ensuring their sacrifice will never be forgotten. The battlefields may be long gone, but our cemeteries, memorials, records, events, community and outreach programmes remain an important and abiding memorial to all those who fell. They are the last physical and human reminders we have of those world-changing conflicts.

At this pivotal and transformative point in our history, we’re seeking an accomplished, visionary and charismatic leader to become Director of our Commonwealth War Graves Foundation and to spearhead the growth and development of this young and exciting charity. The role is to ensure the Foundation is set for the future, and to identify and grasp the opportunities that will ensure it achieves its full potential.

You will bring both collaborative leadership and clear direction, identifying new and innovative projects and growing diverse income streams. You will extend our brand and profile, increasing membership and attracting major donors and sponsors through high value alliances. You will quickly be trusted by your colleagues to identify and develop major projects and programmes spanning education and community engagement. Through everything you do, you will ensure that the Commission and Foundation together extend our reach to as many people as possible around the world.

You’re an exceptional charity leader with a successful track record of team leadership, service delivery and income generation. You will bring passion for what we do now, and vision for the future. A bold, creative thinker you’ll have a can-do attitude that inspires others and unlocks potential.

With 1,300 staff worldwide, we speak many languages, possess different talents and come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We’re an organisation that cares about our people and that recognises and celebrates our diversity. We are dedicated to one purpose: preserving in perpetuity the memory, and telling the stories, of the men and women from the two World Wars who sacrificed their lives so that we might live the lives we do today.
