With more than 30 years of experience behind us, we’re focused and committed to helping our local East London community boost the career options for young people and give every child a bright and promising future.

We are currently looking for a Project Leader to join us on a 12-month contract, with the potential to be extended. This is a full-time position, working 34 hours per week.

The Benefits

- Salary of £28,000
- 25 day’s holiday per annum, plus bank holidays
- Christmas Shutdown
- Pension
- A commitment to your professional development

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced project manager with a background in mentoring and employability, looking for an opportunity to help build a stronger, local community.

We’re looking for individuals with the experience, gravitas and mentoring expertise to help us do more, help more young people and drive change.

You’ll join us as we change the narrative for young people, discover their potential, raise their aspirations and create opportunities. We are about matching businesses and education together to support amazing children to become exceptional adults.

And our values are what drive us. We measure our impact, ensuring we are always effective, we show empathy, respecting the views and perspectives of others, and we enjoy the engagement we create through our passion and fun and memorable experience. We are also committed and dedicated to the possibility of change and we work in collaboration with others, working together to find the right outcomes.

What’s more, as well as some great benefits we love to see that special spark in every member of our team so we’ll provide the learning and development opportunities to enable you to do your best work yet. We invest in our workplace culture and offer flexible working and early Friday finishes to ensure we all can maximise that vital work/life balance.

The Role

As a Project Lead, you will be responsible for leading a substantial mentoring scheme for minority students in our borough, matching them to mentors in local businesses.

As you build sustainable and suitable relationships with businesses and schools, you will act as an interface, matching local students to volunteers based on the compatibility of skills and aspirations.

Crucially, you will ensure strong mentorship schemes as you organise mentor training, DBS checks, student safeguarding and ensure regular meetings between students and mentors.

Additionally, you will:

- Monitor an online platform where students and mentors can communicate via messaging
- Gather impact data and report back to funders on project progress and outcomes
- Facilitate launch sessions, mid-year reviews and end of year celebrations
- Liaise with Corporate Social Responsibility business contacts
- Liaise with local school staff

About You

To be considered a Project Lead, you will need:

- A minimum of two years’ experience in a project management position
- Experience of co-ordinating mentoring programmes
- Experience of managing employability programmes for young individuals
- Experience of working in or for a corporate audience

Ideally, you will have experience of co-ordinating business volunteers. Experience of working with schools would also be beneficial.

When applying, please ensure your application is submitted with an up-to-date CV and a cover letter detailing how you meet the requirements of this position, in a maximum of two sides of A4. Applications made without a cover letter shall not be considered.

Application deadline: 9am on Wed 25th May.
