The Company of Merchant Taylors of the City of York is one of the City’s ancient Guilds. A Registered Charity it’s objectives are maintaining the 600 year old grade 1 listed Merchant Taylors Hall and providing charitable support to local young people to develop their skills and careers in music and arts.

The Company is seeking to appoint a Clerk, the senior Executive Officer, to run the Company and report to the Master and the Court of Assistants.

At the heart of one of the City’s historic institutions this is an interesting and challenging role requiring someone dynamic and adaptable. 

The Clerk responsibilities include governance, financial administration, the maintenance of the Hall, Company events, the separate event business and external relationships. The Executive team comprises the Clerk, two part time employees and a contractor.

This is a part time appointment with an average of 24 hours a week.

The salary is £26500 (£44100 full time equivalent).
