Job Details

They are now looking for an experienced Sustainability Manager to join their Food Business team.

Our client is the leading international farm animal welfare charity, campaigning to improve the lives of millions of farm animals through advocacy, lobbying for legislative change and positive engagement with the global food industry. Their established Food Business programme aims to raise baseline standards for farm animals by securing commitments, ensuring compliance and facilitating implementation of higher welfare policies and practices. Their work is based on scientific evidence and best practice and as such they are recognised as the credible partner on farm animal welfare to the major food retailers, food service companies and manufacturers. In their mission to end factory farming of food animals, they are developing an ambitious plan to drive systemic change for a Sustainable Food System at the global level. This includes a new objective to reduce the over reliance on animal-sourced foods, whilst encouraging a move towards regenerative nature-positive farming. Their approach will be to engage with food companies and major corporations via a two-prong approach:

i. High level engagement at CEO level with influential corporations in support of systemic change
ii. Food Business engagement with leading food companies to drive change in production and consumption patterns (as well as welfare)

About the role:

The Food Sustainability Manager will be responsible for the on-going management and further development of global tools and resources that will inspire and drive corporate reduction strategies.

These tools and resources will be appropriate for food businesses, aligned to corporate ESG initiatives and will be in line with their target to reduce consumption of meat, fish, dairy and eggs and will support the broader sustainability agenda. Responsibilities will also include tracking developments in the global protein diversification market. By providing a framework for change, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact for farmed animals and sustainable food production within a dynamic team and influential organisation. The right candidate will have proven experience of sustainability reporting and/or/benchmarking systems to drive change and will be commercially astute. The candidate will also have proven knowledge and experience in an area of food sustainability, ideally with a strong understanding of supply chain management and/or regenerative agricultural systems
