Job Details

Helen & Douglas House is a children’s hospice service, providing specialist palliative care to children across the Thames Valley and beyond. As a result of our recent strategic planning we are looking for Trustees with specific expertise in the areas of Nursing, Technology and Fundraising. Ideally you will have worked in the area we are seeking expertise in at a strategic level with a moderate degree of accountability and responsibility. As our Digital Trustee, you will provide thought and leadership on the role of digital across Helen & Douglas House and contribute to the build and implementation of our digital vision. You will help ensure that the Executive team have the digital capabilities that they need to implement the strategy, and highlight the opportunities and the risks of digital, in terms of our strategy and take the lead on evaluating digital proposals for the board.

Skills we are looking for in our Digital Trustee:

- A digital professional who has demonstrable and practical experience of delivering transformational change to business technologies and processes, to increase efficiency and raise the profile of the organisation.

- Ability to work at a strategic and visionary level whilst understanding the detail and complexities of digital delivery, and the influencing skills needed to bring stakeholders along with plans.

- Experience of working at a senior leadership level in digital and/or technology.

- Ability to analyse risks and opportunities and take a balanced approach to both.

- Extensive relevant networks and a willingness to draw on contacts as appropriate.

- Experience of current agile project management practices, open source, cloud platforms and digital services.

- A strong communicator with the ability to work as part of a team and willingness to take collective responsibility for the governance of the charity.

This very fulfilling role is unpaid with a time commitment of at least 12 days a year plus the requirement to attend other ad hoc meetings and events. All Trustees are required to attend at least 75% of board meetings annually and 75% of subcommittees. Training and support will be provided.
