Philanthropy Officer
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced Philanthropy Officer to work with this amazing organisation.
You will be working for a charity that represents 100% of the NHS charity sector in the UK as members. Helping the NHS tackle today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities.
Position: Philanthropy Officer
Location: Warwick – Flexible/Home based
Salary: £23,000-£26,500 per annum dependant on experience
Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week

The Role
This is a new role within the Charity’s recently established Philanthropy Team and is an exciting opportunity to help shape the role of philanthropic giving. This role would suit an ambitious individual looking to increase their experience in philanthropy or taking their next step in a busy philanthropy team.
The Philanthropy Officer will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and will be responsible for co-ordinating the production of a suite of impactful communications and materials to surprise and delight some of their closest supporters. You will also manage and develop their portfolio of small trusts and family foundations, as well as supporting the philanthropy team on strategic projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of c50-100 relationships, charitable trusts, and family foundations with the capacity to give £25,000
- Manage the design and production of comms materials targeted at high-value audiences in your portfolio
- Support in the co-ordination of stewardship events
- Co-ordinate mailings (post and email) on behalf of the philanthropy team.
- Support the Head of Philanthropy across strategic projects, e.g., case for support development and donor recruitment
- Contribute to annual planning and budgeting
- Keep donor records up to date on the fundraising database, Raiser’s Edge.
- Ensure all due diligence is undertaken and necessary gift agreements are in place
- Contribute to the wider fundraising team, taking a proactive approach to working in a high-performing and collaborative environment
- Work collaboratively across the directorate to ensure programmes are integrated
About You
To be successful in this role as Philanthropy Officer you will have experience of working within a high value fundraising function (charitable trusts, major gifts, corporate, grants, statutory) or account management in a similar environment.
You will also have the skills and experience such as:
- Ability to develop successful working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Experience in first class relationship management
- Excellent written skills, with experience in writing engaging copy for a variety of audiences
- Able to review and translate complex information
- Experience of managing in-person event production
- Understanding or clear interest in fundraising innovation
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Strong ability to manage workload and priorities
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Knowledge of fundraising regulation and standards, specifically in relation to public fundraising
- An understanding of GDPR and PECR regulation
- An understanding of how the NHS is organised and awareness of topical issues related to healthcare
- Knowledge / experience of working within a membership organisation or NHS charity
You will be a highly organised team-player, a brilliant communicator with a flair for turning complex information into inspiring and impactful copy.
