Chief Executive Officer

Chief Executive Officer opportunities like this don’t come around very often.

We are looking for an innovative and inspirational Chief Executive Officer to lead a highly respected charity in Leicestershire. This vacancy comes with the planned retirement of a senior executive after 33 years. This has prompted the Board of Trustees to reorganise the leadership structure and create the new role of Chief Executive.

The Charity remains focussed on the prevention or relief of poverty in 2022. This rewarding role offers a great opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of local people and children, and the wider community.

Position: Chief Executive Officer

Location: Leicester

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: £60,000 to £65,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Benefits: Flexible working, competitive salary, 32 days’ annual leave (pro rata for part time roles) including Bank Holidays, pension scheme, car parking in Leicester City Centre

The Role

As CEO you will be supported by a team of committed officers, managers and an experienced Board of Trustees. You will provide leadership to the charity, to be responsible for its management and administration within the strategic, policy, accountability and governance frameworks set by the Board of Trustees.

Together with the Chair, enable the Board of Trustees to fulfil its legal duties and responsibilities for the governance of the charity and to ensure the Board receives timely advice, guidance and information on all relevant matters.

About You

As CEO you will be a leader with first-class people skills, deep understanding of charity administration, a calm head, strategic mind, knowledge of fund-raising, and an entrepreneurial approach.

You will be comfortable being the figurehead of the charity’s brand, internally and externally, and collaborative in your approach in making and maintaining relationships with highly valued partners and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role the CEO will have the following key skills:

 

  • Leadership - to motivate staff and volunteers, with personal drive and energy
  • Advocacy - face of the organisation, able to effectively promote the charity’s aims
  • Financial acumen – to be able to set and operate a budget
  • Excellent communicator
  • Experienced Executive

 

You will have the ability to maintain and respect the history of the organisation while positioning them to address modern challenges as they approach its 150th year. Are you that person? If so, we would love to hear from you.

You may also have experience in areas such as Chief Executive, Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Deputy CEO, Director, Managing Director, Head of Operation, Head of Strategy, etc.
