Our services are now delivered almost entirely by telephone, email, via our website, video consultations and a limited number of face-to-face appointments for clients unable to access our services by other means. Our freephone Adviceline is the main channel for clients to access advice from us. By a collaboration of the five local Citizens Advice services in Somerset, we jointly provide a telephone advice service to all residents of Somerset.
The number of residents contacting us on the Somerset Adviceline is currently running at 2,500 to 3,000 calls per month – we have seen a significant increase in demand as Covid restrictions ease.
As demand for our services is now outstripping our capacity to deliver it, we are recruiting additional staff to meet that need.
The Somerset Adviceline team consists of paid and volunteer advisers delivering advice Monday to Friday, 10am and 4pm, with a plan to extend these to 8am and 7pm.
We are looking for an experienced administrator to support our advice team with good IT skills, excellent organisation, and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide to support to colleagues. You must also have a commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service.
All our advisers are now working almost entirely remotely, although access is available to local Citizens Advice offices around the county. We provide excellent equipment and resources for home working.
About us
Part of Citizens Advice Somerset, alongside four other Local Citizens Advice services (LCAs), we are a member of the national Citizens Advice network, one of the most recognised advice brands in UK. Our clients are often the most vulnerable in our local communities, all of whom rely on the high-quality advice and information we provide.
Citizens Advice Mendip is an equal opportunities employer. We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates from all backgrounds.
