Woking, Surrey

As someone with expertise in delivering successful large scale Blue Carbon projects and research this is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of our planet by helping create an environment where people and nature can thrive.

We are facing a climate and nature emergency, in the ocean as well as on land and as a member of the team in the world’s leading independent conservation organisation, we want you to play a key role in our Blue Carbon initiative, created to ensure the protection and restoration of Blue Carbon ecosystems.

As our Blue Carbon Technical Officer, you will work on the development of scientific evidence-based projects and research. This will include supporting the coordination of internal and external stakeholders, project management, reporting and ensuring alignment of your work with our overall strategy. We will look to you to provide relevant science support on Blue Carbon, liaise with project and research partners and key stakeholders, and help our devolved offices to deliver Blue Carbon related science in Wales and Scotland. You will also support grant agreements and monitor budgets and spend as well as develop and deliver relevant materials for presentations and briefings. You will get involved in future partnership development too.

A graduate, you must have experience of delivering successful large scale Blue Carbon projects as well as an understanding of marine biodiversity, habitats, climate mitigation and adaptation. You will have good knowledge of the UK’s seascapes, ocean biodiversity, and ocean management issues too. Comfortable engaging with multiple stakeholders, you will be used to coordinating projects and research and managing large and complex budgets. Good at solving problems, you will also possess excellent networking, communication and influencing skills.

If you are enthusiastic about making our world a better place through your work, we would love to hear from you. Please click on the link and apply via our website by submitting a copy of your up-to-date CV and the Supporting Statement to highlight what makes you a good fit for us.

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you.  Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose.  We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.

Company

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
