This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual with experience in community fundraising and managing volunteers to help our fundraising efforts go from strength to strength.

Community fundraising is a relatively new fundraising stream for our charity and we’re eager to get the ball rolling in 2022 with an exciting list of activities and an ambitious strategy. Your role will be vital in helping us to connect with our supporters and volunteers, maximising fundraising income, raising awareness and enabling us to help change people’s lives for the better.

So, if you have the experience and skills we’re looking for and are excited by the idea of working with a variety of people across the UK, we want to hear from you!

The Role

As a Community Fundraiser, you will be responsible for developing our community fundraising volunteers and supporters to raise money and support for our brilliant organisation.

In this hands-on role, you will train and effectively manage groups and individuals to encourage and inspire greater support for their organisation. You’ll support and cultivate new and existing volunteers and assist individual supporters, partnerships and events to maximise our fundraising.

A key part of your role will be to help develop a UK-wide network of groups who can help promote our charity and raise funds at a regional level. You’ll act as the face of our organisation, attending networking events, giving talks and presentations and promoting the fantastic work we do.

Additionally, you will:

- Plan, co-ordinate and deliver events and community fundraisers to increase our reach and income
- Establish and manage new local volunteer groups
- Undertake administrative activities including maintaining accurate records
- Support PR activities and participate in national marketing and fundraising initiatives

About You

To join us as a Community Fundraiser, you will need:

- At least three years’ experience in a role with a demonstrable record of fundraising through identifying, establishing and retaining effective volunteers, supporters and fundraising committees and/or groups
- An awareness of the legal and financial aspects of volunteer management, licensing and charity law
- Demonstrable organisational skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- The ability to monitor budgets and keep accurate financial records
- The ability to cope with the demands of a varied workload and prioritise tasks
- Well-developed literacy and numeracy skills
- A flexible attitude to work and the ability to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends, with occasional overnight stays (for which time in lieu will be given)
- A full, clean driving licence

A working knowledge of safeguarding rules, regulations and implementation would be beneficial to your application, as would excellent Microsoft Office skills. Experience of using databases would be advantageous, as would a degree level qualification.

An interest in gardening and/or horticulture would be desirable.

Please note, this role will involve some manual handling of cardboard boxes of stock, leaflets, deliveries, display racking, pull up banners and similar materials for shows.

The closing date for applications is the 7th February 2022.

Other organisations may call this role Community and Events Fundraiser, Community and Events Officer, Fundraising and Development Officer, or Community Fundraising Co-ordinator.
