The Role

As our Operations Support Officer, you’ll focus on providing outstanding operational support to our teams across our core functions including operations, HR, finance and IT.

In this busy, hands-on role, you’ll take on a variety of tasks to keep our operations running smoothly so we can continue helping those who need us most. You’ll provide effective support to our CEO and ensure our core services meet the needs of our beneficiaries and volunteers.

A key focus will be on maintaining and delivering our systems and processes as well as managing the complex logistics of transporting aid to multiple locations in the UK, France and Belgium.

Additionally, you will:

- Manage supplier contracts and relationships

- Assist with social media, in particular content gathering and community management

- Manage and maintain data gathering systems used for advocacy purposes

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- A commitment to continuous learning and improvement

- Excellent written and spoken English

- At a minimum, A-Level qualifications or equivalent

Experience of working in an operations and/or admin role would be beneficial to your application, as would experience establishing and maintaining operational systems and processes.

Company

Care4Calais is a volunteer run charity delivering essential aid and support to refugees living in the UK, Northern France and Belgium.  We believe in a fair and tolerant British society and advocate for a welcoming and inclusive attitude towards refugees.

Operating year round, our focus is to provide warm clothing, bedding, food and medical assistance to people in desperate need. We also provide social support and interaction, including language lessons and sports and music workshops.

We are not politicians; we are ordinary people like you who believe that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity. We are on the ground with the refugees every single day and are respectful of their common humanity and responsive to their needs.

We use our on-the-ground presence and relationship with the refugee community to provide the much-needed help that other organisations are not able to.

We also work with research and media organisations to advocate for a welcoming and inclusive  attitude towards refugees and asylum seekers.

We have hosted thousands of volunteers, politicians, journalists and campaigners at our centre in Calais and are involved in a number of campaigns aimed at influencing the public’s perception of refugees.
