Finance Sector Advocacy Manager

Job reference: REQ000228

£55,000pa

Woking, Surrey GU21 4LL

If you have extensive advocacy or influencing experience in or targeted at the finance sector, this is an incredible opportunity to use your expertise to create an equitable and sustainable global economy. The world is now starting to make a seismic shift towards a Net Zero, Nature Positive future, and innovative new solutions to drive that transition are urgently needed. WWF has played a central role in working with and influencing the finance sector in spurring the transition on and wants to double down now to support and drive this process even faster.

As the world’s leading independent conservation organisation, we are building a new business advocacy team to align, strengthen and supercharge our already strong advocacy base and to leverage our transformational corporate partnerships and private sector engagement. You could play a leading role in our new team and work on an exciting, high value and high impact partnership with one of the world’s largest global financial institutions.

As Finance Sector Advocacy Manager, you will collaborate with colleagues to deliver an ambitious advocacy strategy to influence finance sector business leaders and key opinion formers. Your work will focus on influencing system change in the finance sector, supporting the transition to a 1.5 degree aligned pathway and driving finance into the energy transition and nature-based solutions. You will ensure that WWF’s strategic finance sector advocacy goals are developed, aligned and delivered successfully. This will include ensuring that advocacy engagement is effectively planned, coordinated, monitored and managed to ensure impact. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders to maximise the long-term, systemic impacts of the partnership and to deliver on our mission to restore nature and tackle the climate crisis too. You will also track progress and share learning. You will need to coordinate with internal UK teams and network WWF offices to achieve the sector change, and to deliver the policy and political objectives of the partnership.

To make this role a success, you must have extensive advocacy or influencing experience in or targeted at the finance sector. You must be expert at managing complex, integrated relationships across multiple offices and organisations with multiple stakeholders, partners and coalitions. Excellent at communicating with people at a senior level, you will possess strong interpersonal, influencing and project management skills too. Effective at solving problems, you will have an eye for detail and be able to demonstrate a commitment to the natural world and WWF’s core mission.

Experience working on these issues within Asia and an understanding of the associated geopolitics would be highly desirable.

If you are passionate about making our world a better place through your work, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with the Supporting Statement highlighting what makes you a good fit for us.

Application closing date : 06/02/2022

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you.  Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose.  We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.

Company

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
