Job Purpose

This role calls for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated and dedicated person who shares our values. This is a varied role that requires an ability to learn a breadth of finance processes, undertake day to day transactions and be adaptable to the needs of the organisation. Over time, this role will give you exposure to the full breadth of the management accounting function.
Part of the requirement of this role will be to undertake an apprenticeship AAT qualification.

Main Duties/Tasks

To support the Finance Manager in processing the day to day financial transactions of the organisation, including the trading subsidiary company.

Cash management including weekly payment runs, cash banking, monitoring of bank balances and reconciliations.

Sales and purchase ledger processing, ensuring invoices are dealt with in a timely manner using the finance system.

Reconciliation of supplier statements including liaising with suppliers to resolve issues.

Credit control including liaising with customers to resolve issues.

Coding of income and expenditure on the finance system and CRM system, ensuring this is within the correct budget codes.

Processing staff and volunteer expenses.

Company credit card processing.

Support and work with the Operations Team to integrate on-line payments into the finance system.

Production of restricted fund statements.

Maintain the accruals and grant ledgers.

Support the Finance Manager with the gift aid processing for both the Charity and trading subsidiary company.

Support the Finance Manager in the month end process to produce the management accounts for both the charity and subsidiary company.

Other Duties

Be an outstanding advocate for Alder Hey Children’s Charity in line with the core values of the organisation.

Be an active and supportive member of the Alder Hey Children’s Charity team, contributing to the team’s development and working collaboratively with colleagues and volunteers.

Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the charity’s work, priorities and future plans and act as a spokesperson for the Charity when required, including representing at external events as appropriate.

Any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

· Demonstrable evidence of excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

· Excellent IT skills including Microsoft packages and database information systems.

· Strong analytical skills, with the ability to gather, interpret and assess information from a variety of sources.

· Strong numerical skills, with an ability to analyse and interpret financial information.

Desirable

· Experience of work with a finance system.

· Charity experience.

· Self-motivated and positive attitude with the ability to work flexibly under pressure and prioritise in a busy environment.

· Ability to work in a logical and organised manner, maintaining good attention to detail and accuracy.
