Sustainable Policy Finance Adviser

Job reference: REQ000220

£32,937pa

Woking, Surrey GU21 4LL.

This is a remarkable opportunity to work with an incredibly dedicated team and use your knowledge of financial sector policy and regulation to contribute to a vital cause. We want your expertise to help save our planet in the world’s leading independent conservation organisation.

The world is now starting to make a seismic shift towards a Net Zero, Nature Positive future, and innovative new solutions to drive that transition are urgently needed. WWF has played a central role in working with the Government and finance sector in spurring this process on and wants to double down now to support and drive this process even faster.

In this new role of Sustainable Finance Policy Advisor, you will help design creative policy solutions to some of the world’s most difficult and pressing challenges. Your work will influence Governments, central banks, regulatory authorities and the finance sector itself to identify and implement policy solutions that will help to create a net zero, nature positive future.

We will look to you to analyse existing and proposed policies for effectiveness and quality as well as research and design new policy proposals. This will involve producing technical reports, documents and briefings and commissioning consultants. You will collaborate with colleagues to develop policy and deliver the case for action and implementation to key stakeholders, and support major campaign strategies to bring about change. Important will be the ability to engage with colleagues to establish the key areas of policy focus as well as build links and strategic relationships with other organisations and other parts of the WWF global Network on relevant issues.

You must have experience in financial sector policy or regulation, ideally gained through working at a central bank, regulator, government or financial institution. You will demonstrate an understanding of how policy is developed and influenced and the ability to use evidence to analyse problems and create solutions. Expert at identifying key or underlying issues in complex situations, you will be an experienced researcher who learns from mistakes and is open to giving and receiving challenging viewpoints. You will possess excellent influencing, relationship building and communication skills too.

If you have the policy expertise to make our strategy for greening the finance sector and saving our plant a success, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with the Supporting Statement highlighting what makes you a good fit for us.

Application closing date: 09/01/2022

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you.  Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose.  We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.

Company

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
