Contract: Permanent
Hours:

Salary: £16,887.96 per annum

Volunteers are an essential part of the team at our client's hospice and thanks to their generosity of time, energy and skills, they can care for over 5,000 people across Somerset, every year. Their volunteers have chosen to give them their time for many different reasons. For some it’s a chance to give something back and for others it’s a way of enhancing their CV.

Their philosophy is to keep the patient at the heart of everything they do and they expect staff to uphold their values at all times and fulfil their commitment to providing excellent specialist palliative care for patients and support to their families.  They go to great lengths to recruit the right people. They want people with a positive attitude who are willing to go the extra mile, not because they are asked to but because they are passionate about working for the hospice.

You will be forward thinking and flexible, actively supporting the introduction of new ideas, methods and processes to continually improve working practices.  You will demonstrate an awareness of the value of volunteers and play a key role in developing innovative recruitment and induction methods.  You will help us increase awareness within their community of the variety of volunteering opportunities that are available, whether that’s someone to help with their summer fete as a one off or someone who wants to give their time on a regular basis as one of their reception volunteers.

You will ideally have previous experience of working with and supporting volunteers and be able to communicate with a range of different people, adapting your style to suit.

Core Competencies for this role are:

Self-awareness - Understanding and being aware of yourself and how to react and interact with others

Leading in your area - Regardless of management position, they all lead and take responsibility in their area of work

Working with others - People working together to achieve team and organisational goals and respecting others

Outcomes and results - Organising ourselves to get the job done, delivering a high-quality service, and being accountable for the outcomes

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate how they will use Core Competencies to help them put their values into practice.
