Job Details

We are delighted to be partnering with an established charity that is the largest and most influential equestrian charity in the UK (over 119,000 members).  With the core foundations of education, welfare, access, and safety, this charity has an aim to protect and promote the interests of all horses and those who care for them through a wide range of campaigns and initiatives.

The charity is committed to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and are keen to progress work in this area. The Board of Trustees have identified a need to appoint a Diversity and Inclusion specialist to bring their skills and expertise to the Board. Alongside your fellow trustees you will support and empower the Senior Management Team to develop the society for the benefit of their member and wider equestrian community and help to showcase the work it does.

Specifically, this trustee will lead on the creation of, and then Chair, a new EDI Advisory Group. The group will heavily influence the development of the organisation’s EDI strategy and will work with the Senior Management Team to oversee its implementation. This means you’ll have the opportunity to support the society through the cultural change required to reduce barriers and advance equality and work with the charity to promote inclusion throughout the equestrian sector.

An EDI Specialist you will bring strong expertise of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and have demonstratable understanding of the lived experience of disadvantaged and/or minoritized groups. You will have experience of influencing cultural or significant organizational change, experience of strategic/business planning, and be motivated by the work of the charity.

The time you need to dedicate will be a minimum of one day a month - maybe more from time to time if your specialist area needs support or development. The Board meets 6 times a year (with meetings lasting for half a day). In your role as Chair of the EDI Advisory Group meetings, you will determine the frequency of these meetings. The charity is headquartered in offices near Kenilworth, Warwickshire – it is expected that while it is possible for virtual attendance for meetings, ad-hoc travel to the office will be required.

You will receive support and guidance from the Chairman and your fellow trustees.  You will be provided with reasonable out of pocket expenses for the duties you undertake as a trustee and will be given resources and information to undertake your role including a tablet and keyboard to access organisational emails and take part in remote calls and will provide specialist equipment or resources for those with additional needs.

This charity is committed to being a diverse, inclusive and an equal opportunity employer - all applicants will receive an unbiased consideration.

To apply for this role, please either reply to this advert with an updated version of your CV or contact Lisa Ross or Matt Adams on executive@tpp.co.uk or 0207 198 6060. In the first instance you will be sent an information pack with details about the role and recruitment process, but the team are on hand to answers any questions that you may have about the role, so please do get in touch if you want a confidential discussion.

The closing date for applications will be 23rd December 2021.
