Head of Grant Management Systems

Woking, Surrey GU21 4LL

There has never been a more important time to join the world’s leading independent conservation organisation and the fight for our planet. This is an incredible opportunity for a senior level manager with significant experience in grant management to join the world’s leading conservation organisation and play a key role supporting the achievement of an ambitious strategy to ensure a future where people and nature thrive.

This is a new role that sits in our Science and Conservation Directorate. This team operates at the heart of WWF-UK and our network partners providing high-level thought leadership, collaboration on conservation programmes and works with governments and other partners. As Head of Grant Management Systems we want you to use your expertise to increase the impact and influence of the work we support internationally. This will mean ensuring we have the processes and rigor in place to delivery strategically important conservation programmes around the world. Responsible for our single largest area of spend, you will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and lead our grant management process.

We will look to you to ensure end to end accountability and oversee a consultancy project to design and deliver new processes resolving key process issues, including due diligence of partners and internal resourcing. You will screen the existing portfolio of conservation programme grants and provide a single point of accountability and oversight of grant making processes. From providing financial due diligence and identifying opportunities for efficiencies and alignment to providing advice on grant issues you will enjoy a high-profile role in the battle to save nature.

For this role you must have significant experience in grant management or a similar role. This will have given you the knowledge to lead on reviewing business operations and processes. A strong project manager, you will be comfortable working alongside senior level stakeholders and used to bringing teams and departments together to plan effectively against shared goals. An effective communicator, with excellent interpersonal skills, you will also have experience of managing multiple stakeholder relationships and prioritising projects too. Critically, you will excel at coaching and developing people.

If you have the expertise to help us achieve maximum impact through planning and performance excellence, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our website via the link, complete the online registration and submit a copy of your up-to-date CV with the Supporting Statement highlighting what makes you a good fit for us.

Application closing date : 12/12/2021

Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you.  Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose.  We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.

Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.

Company

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
