The Company

The Royal Parks is a charity created in March 2017. We manage over 5,000 acres of diverse parkland, rare habitats and historic buildings and monuments in eight Royal Parks across London. These are: Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, The Green Park, St James’s Park, The Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, Greenwich Park, Richmond Park and Bushy Park. We also manage other important public spaces including Brompton Cemetery and Victoria Tower Gardens. Our eight Royal Parks and other public spaces are among the most visited attractions in the UK with 77 million visits every year.

We are now looking for a Head of Visitor Experience to deliver a rich and impactful customer journey for all visitors in our parks. This will be a permanent position on a full-time basis.

The Role

As the Head of Visitor Experience, you will provide leadership on visitor experiences within our parks as well as with our partners, suppliers and concessionaires.

You will seek to bring the beauty of our landscapes to life through physical and digital channels and inspire people to visit and enjoy all that the Royal Parks has to offer through our Interpretation Strategy and Plan.
 
You will lead the charities Movement Strategy – supporting decisions made around the way people access the parks and move around them.

Leading the Parks’ research and insight programme, you will be responsible for delivering recommendations that will help us to fulfil our objectives.

You will also:

- Support decisions on outreach programmes
- Oversee the charities health and wellbeing strategy for visitors
- Oversee the charity’s significant and ongoing partnerships and relationships with local councils and other stakeholders
- Understand and ensure the needs and requirements of international visitors are met
- Play an active role in the Communications and Engagement SMT

About You

To be considered as the Head of Visitor Experience, you will need:

- Experience of senior leadership and management in the heritage, public engagement or visitor attraction sector
- Proven experience of understanding interpretation and wayfinding, transport or movement, research and insight/data analysis
- The ability to lead, manage, develop and motivate teams
- Proven experience of developing and testing visitor experience strategies, movement strategies or interpretation strategies
- Experience of negotiating and influencing at a senior level with the ability to develop strong, positive relationships and inspire confidence quickly
- A comprehensive understanding of visitor profiling, data capture and data analysis
- Evidence of professional and/or academic qualifications or professional development aligned to a senior leadership role in Visitor Experience

Membership or accreditation from relevant industry bodies would be beneficial to your application.
