The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a wetland conservation charity that works in the UK and around the world. We are also one of the UK’s leading visitor attraction brands, operating 10 nature sites across the UK including household names such as Slimbridge, Martin Mere, and the London Wetland Centre.

A visit to one of our wetland centres is always enjoyable, but WWT does far more than provide a great day out. Our cause is wetlands, and the power that lies where land and water meet – the power to store carbon, clean water, hold back floods and, most importantly, bring life.

We may live in an increasingly digital world but we never underestimate the power of experience, where we can immerse our visitors in nature, and also with our work and our cause, by engaging all their senses and telling inspiring stories in new ways.

We welcome one million people through our doors each year. For many it’s their first step towards a deeper love of the natural world. For others, their visit is part of a lifelong pattern interwoven with memories of school or friends or family or an encounter with nature at first hand.

About the role

The role of National Visitor Marketing Manager is central to growing our visiting audience and helping each of our sites to reach their full potential.

We’re looking for a strategic thinker who is comfortable taking the professional lead. We want you to be a source of information and inspiration for the whole organisation as well someone who likes to deliver on the ground. You will bring analytical skills as well as new approaches and creativity, and share our ambition to develop our brand and raise the profile of wetlands with our target audiences.

We’re looking for someone who can represent their specialism with sensitivity. We are complex. As a charity and a membership organisation that works around the world, we spin a lot of plates. You’ll be expected to know the value of what you do, while always keeping the organisation’s purpose in mind.

And we’re after a coach and a mentor. You’ll work closely with your colleagues at our wetland sites to develop a strong proposition for each, building on their individual characters and strengths. And you’ll constantly challenge and support them, so they get the best from their marketing at a local level, while providing strategic oversight and direction.

As a team player, you’ll work seamlessly with your colleagues across WWT to develop and deliver a visitor marketing strategy in line with our brand. You’ll ensure our visitor marketing complements our supporter journey by helping to engage people with our charity’s cause from the first moment they encounter us.

And finally, we need someone with plenty of enthusiasm – a self-starter with their finger on the pulse of the visitor attraction market. You’ll want to build your network across our sites and central teams quickly. In return, you’ll find a warm welcome, a supportive and passionate bunch of colleagues, and never a dull day!

About us

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a wetland conservation charity that works in the UK and around the world.

We’re driven by a love of nature. These amazing habitats are essential to all life, including our own. But across the world their health is under threat, and that’s damaging for wildlife, the planet, and for us.

Healthy wetlands are one of the most nature-rich habitats on earth and they help control our climate. They store carbon, prevent flooding, reduce pollution, and the livelihoods of many communities entirely depend on them. The first civilisations grew up around wetlands, and today they remain a source of inspiration and wellbeing.

That’s why we work directly to protect, restore and create healthy wetlands, and why we inspire and help others to do the same.

We make change happen, through our conservation projects around the world and our pioneering wetland centres across the UK, where each year a million people come to engage with nature.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- Free parking and secure bike storage area
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free entry to all our centres

Closing date: 28th November 2021
Interview date: 7th December 2021
